Bruno Fernandes’ former manager has labelled the Manchester United star as “one of the best” footballers.
Jorge Manuel Rebelo Fernandes, known as Silas, was Fernandes’ manager at Sporting Lisbon before the attacking midfielder made his big-money move to Manchester in January 2020.
Fernandes’ former manager said it was a “hard blow” losing their prized asset and they struggled to cope without him.

Speaking in an interview with MARCA, Silas said: “It was a hard blow. We lost him in the middle of the year. It’s not easy to find a quick solution for that.
“Bruno has some peculiarities as a person that help him a lot. He is very outgoing. He loves football and talks about it continuously. He speaks Portuguese, Italian, English and Spanish all very well.
“He has a spectacular ear for languages. It allows him to get to the Premier League and adapt.”

Silas explains what makes United’s ‘Portuguese Magnificio’ different from other players and how he draws comparisons with Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.
The 46-year-old said: “[He’s] a beast training. I never saw anyone like it. He stays an hour kicking, through the air, on the ground.
“He’s one of the best, but the team has to help him. Bruno is a footballer who is not easy to stop.
“When the ball falls to him and he has no one in front of him – he hits them very well. With the right, with the left. It reminds me of Scholes.
“If you give him two metres [of space] it’s like a penalty. It’s amazing.”

After missing the 3-2 win against Tottenham on Saturday, Bruno Fernandes will be hoping to earn a recall for tonight’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Atletico Madrid.
The 27-year-old will be hoping to maintain his record of registering an assist in every Champions League game he has played this season.
