Former Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot produced a midfield masterclass in Juventus’ Champions League win against Maccabi Haifa.

After accepting defeat in the long-running pursuit of Erik ten Hag’s priority target Frenkie de Jong, Rabiot seemingly became Manchester United’s primary midfield target in the middle of August.

But the France international’s move to Old Trafford collapsed due to the Frenchman’s reported steep wage demands.

The 27-year-old reportedly wanted to become one of the best paid players in the United team, with the club unwilling to grant this request.

Instead of signing the former Paris Saint Germain midfielder, Manchester United moved quickly to wrap up a deal which saw five-time Champions League winner Casemiro arrive from Real Madrid.

Despite having his heart set on a move to the Red Devils, Rabiot has been reintegrated into The Old Lady side by Massimiliano Allegri.

The 29-time France international, who missed last month’s UEFA Nations League matches with a thigh problem, produced a man of the match display in last night’s 3-1 win against Maccabi Haifa.

After linking up with former Manchester United flop Angel Di Maria, Rabiot opened the scoring at the Allianz Stadium in the 35th minute by smashing the ball high into the net after being played in on goal by the Argentine.

In the 83rd minute, Di Maria and Rabiot combined once again when the Frenchman headed home a corner which secured the three points for Allegri’s men.

According to SofaScore, Rabiot (9.6) just ousted Di Maria (9.4) to the man of the match award.

Alongside his two goals, Juventus’ number 25 had 64 touches and finished the match with an 88% passing accuracy.

He completed both of his attempted dribbles and as well as winning 13 duels, the former Manchester United target blocked one shot and made seven tackles.

His contract with the Bianconeri expires in June, but after his move to the Theatre of Dreams fell through in the summer, it looks like Manchester United have moved on and are more likely to pursue long-term targets De Jong and Jude Bellingham next summer instead of reigniting interest in Rabiot.
