Former Manchester United prospect Aliou Traore joins Frosinone

Former Manchester United prospect Aliou Traore has joined Serie B side Frosinone Calcio after leaving fellow Italian outfit Parma earlier in the summer.

The talented 21-year-old left Manchester United as a free agent in the summer of 2021, having spent the 2020-21 season on loan at French side Caen, and he signed for Parma a couple of months later.

Traore only made two substitute appearances for Parma, but the Frenchman does have a solitary appearance alongside legendary Italian goalkeeper and World Cup winner Gianluigi Buffon on his CV.

Traore joins Frosinone on a deal until the end of the season.

The one-time former France Under-19 international desperately needs to get his promising career back on track and playing senior football week in, week out.

Traore left Manchester United a year after talented academy duo Angel Gomes and Largie Ramazani both also left as free agents.

Unlike Traore, Gomes and Ramazani are making their names across Europe and have established themselves in England and Beligum’s respected Under-21 sides.

In the same summer that Traore departed, Charlie McCann took the decision to leave United and sign for Rangers. The Northern Ireland Under-21 international has recently made his first start for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

That same summer, Arnau Puigmal also departed and opted to join Ramazani at Almeria, and they are both currently plying their trade in La Liga after securing promotion last season.

From 50 games for the Manchester United academy sides, Traore scored eight goals and provided ten assists.

His best season during his time with Reds came in the 2018-19 campaign, when playing for the under-18s, where he scored four goals and provided ten assists from 29 matches.

After seven Serie B games, Frosinone are currently level on points with Traore’s former side Parma and sit sixth in the table with 12 points.

Parma beat Frosinone 2-1 on Saturday and Traore could make his debut for his new club on Saturday when Frosinone host SPAL at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.
