Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho being left out of the first-team squad for the foreseeable future has certainly dominated headlines.
The Englishman has struggled since his move from Borussia Dortmund back in 2021 and his public rebuttal to Erik ten Hag’s comments on his training performances has meant his position at the club is seemingly untenable.
Sancho was seen watching on as United’s academy players defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 in a crucial game for the academy side at Carrington, the Red Devils’ training facility. Jack Kingdon and Victor Musa were on the scoresheet.
One former United player was also in attendance during the teenager’s game and it isn’t a surprise that he is back in the fold.

Phil Jones is back
Perhaps unsurprisingly Phil Jones, the former United defender, who was released from the club, is once again back at United’s training facilities.
The defender was pictured overseeing training before the game kicked off and you wonder if the defender, who is still without a club this summer, may well turn to coaching as his injury issues may well force him to retire.
According to The Mirror, it had been hoped that he would continue his playing career elsewhere, but he remains a free agent – meaning he can sign for a club outside the transfer window.

What does Jones’ future hold
The English defender, as mentioned, is still without a club following his 12-year stint at Old Trafford coming to an end this summer.
The defender may well have a future in coaching and it’s fair to say the defender has had a lot of harrowing experiences that the younger footballers may well need to hear before they embark on their professional careers.
Jones has had injury issues and indeed suffered heavy criticism on social media and may well be able to impart wisdom to these young players and could well be a wise appointment by the club if they were to make it.
