Manchester United remain in talks with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo but the Bees may also need to find a new manager.
After securing Matheus Cunha as the first major signing of the summer, Manchester United have bid for Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo made it clear he wants to join United, but Ineos’ first £45m bid does not quite meet Brentford’s £60m valuation. Both clubs remain in talks over a final fee.
There are only two days remaining of the summer transfer window before it is put on pause until June 16th, and Tottenham could try to hijack United’s Mbeumo deal if the transfer saga drags on.
That is because Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been linked with the Tottenham job after Ange Postecoglou was sacked.

Ex-Man United coach Kieran McKenna linked to Brentford
If Frank does make the move to Tottenham, Brentford have already identified a potential managerial replacement.
According to talkSPORT, Brentford have set their sights on Kieran McKenna as a managerial candidate.
McKenna first joined United in 2016, taking up a role as the under-18s manager. He went on to work under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford.
McKenna was considered as a replacement when Erik ten Hag was sacked because of his impressive record with Ipswich Town.
Ipswich earned consecutive promotions to the Premier League under McKenna, but were relegated back to the Championship for 2025/26. He has now been offered a route back to the top flight.
Kieran McKenna may oversee Bryan Mbeumo sale
Brentford and Tottenham could make managerial changes sooner rather than later, and while Ineos are accelerating their interest in Bryan Mbeumo, it seems that deal will take time to finalise.
Therefore, McKenna could be in charge at Brentford while negotiations over Mbeumo continue.
United have already agreed personal terms with Mbeumo, with the 25-year-old forward eager to make the move to Old Trafford.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reassured fans that Mbeumo is desperate to join United, which means McKenna will likely have little to no say in the transfer deal even if he is appointed at Brentford.
Instead, McKenna will be tasked with sourcing a replacement for the Cameroon international.
