As the season finishes with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, it’s important to look back and reminisce on what a fantastic season it’s been.
With this – here are five things we learned about Manchester United this season…

Erik ten Hag is the answer
After years of mediocre management, it finally feels like we’ve found Sir Alex Ferguson‘s rightful successor.
The Dutchman has been a revelation at the club. He’s invested well in the transfer market, brought silverware back to Old Trafford and has reignited a proper feel-good factor around the club.
He’s the best thing to come out of this season by a country mile and we can’t wait to see where he takes the club in the future.
The future is bright
Some of our brightest sparks this season have been the young players in the squad.
Lisandro Martinez, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony have all been immense this season, and they’re only going to get better and better.
Tyrell Malacia also had a decent breakthrough season and Jadon Sancho has shown glimpses of his former self in moments.
It is important to have a mixture of experience and youth in the squad, which United have balanced perfectly at the moment. However, what’s great is to see the young lads thriving, which means we’re in safe hands in the future.
The squad needs to broaden
We learned this one the hard way. The squad needs to be widened, with summer signings an absolute necessity.
With so much football being played and with the addition of the ever-more intense Champions League football, we’re going to need much more depth next season.
The lack of a goalscoring threat has been the biggest problem this season. When Marcus Rashford wasn’t firing, it was a real struggle to see where the other goals would come from.
A striker is a necessity, along with a midfielder and potentially a centre-half.

That winning feeling is oh so good
Silverware returned to Manchester for the first time since 2017 when Manchester United lifted the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United earlier this year.
It felt ridiculously good to win again. Trophies are arguably the most important thing in football and United have been starved of them since Fergie retired.
Hopefully, this is the first of many to come in the ten Hag era.
Things are finally looking up
United have suffered a lot of hardship in recent years. This season has probably been the best there’s been in a good while.
We have a likeable squad and play good football. But most importantly, the fans seem connected with Manchester United once again.
So many managers and players have bypassed the club over the past decade, without a clear vision or goal. That looks to have changed.
We’re massively excited for the 2023/24 season. Let’s hope it’s even better than the one just gone by.
