Three Manchester United players crashed out of the World Cup in the round of 32, but five of their teammates are still in with a chance of going all the way.

Matheus Cunha earned a starting role for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup. Still, the Manchester United forward will be disappointed to have been eliminated in the round of 16 following a 2-1 defeat to Norway in New Jersey.

On top of that, Portugal were eliminated by Spain, spelling the end of the tournament for United duo Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.

Without further ado, here are the five United players who have qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals.

Morocco – Noussair Mazraoui

United full-back Noussair Mazraoui has been one of Morocco’s most consistent performers at the World Cup.

After a 3-0 win over Canada, Mazraoui and his Moroccan teammates will face favourites France in the quarter-finals.

The Moroccan national team are solid defensively, with Mazraoui deserving of credit for that, but France will be their biggest test yet.

Belgium – Senne Lammens

Although Senne Lammens has not featured at the World Cup, the 24-year-old was among the celebrations when Belgium ended the USA’s World Cup run.

A 4-1 victory over Mauricio Pochettino’s side booked Belgium’s place in the quarter-finals.

Belgium face Spain in the next round and will be hoping for a better result than Portugal managed.

England – Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford

Even though England have booked their place in the quarter-finals, it has been a somewhat frustrating campaign for Kobbie Mainoo.

The United star is the only midfielder in Thomas Tuchel’s squad not to play a single minute since the World Cup began. Jordan Henderson’s injury gives Mainoo a better chance of featuring in the quarter-final tie against Norway, albeit as a substitute.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has found himself in and out of the line-up. Tuchel has been indecisive about whether to select Anthony Gordon or Rashford on the left flank.

Argentina – Lisandro Martinez

The world champions forced a remarkable comeback win against Egypt in the round of 32.

Lisandro Martinez was at fault for both of Egypt’s goals in the 3-2 win, but the United defender has performed well up until this point.

Argentina take on Switzerland on Sunday morning with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs. The winner will play the winner of Norway vs England.
