Feyenoord reject offer from Lyon for Manchester United target Tyrell Malacia

Feyenoord have rejected an offer from Lyon for reported Manchester United transfer target Tyrell Malacia, report Voetball International.

But they may not be able to hold out for long, and the Eredivisie club are reportedly open to a deal.

The opening bid for Malacia has been rejected, although the amount offered by the French side is not specified.

Voetball International report Feyenoord are open to a transfer and believe the funds could be useful and accept Malacia is ready for a move.

The left-back was linked with a £20 million move to Manchester United by The Mirror last month, with De Telegraaf this week also reporting the Red Devils’ interest.

Last week Malacia was quizzed about United’s interest, on Dutch TV station RTV Rijnmond, reported by Feyenoord outlet fr12.nl.

Asked about interest specifically from Manchester United, among other clubs, Malacia responded: “I am certainly ready for the next step.”

Malacia is currently on international duty with the Netherlands, although was an unused substitute against Belgium last week.

The left-back is an option for Manchester United as a possible replacement for Alex Telles and competitor for Luke Shaw.

But the position is not considered to be the immediate priority for the Red Devils this transfer window, with midfield a far more pressing area in need of upgrade.

Lyon’s opening offer is a warning shot to United that waiting too long, could see Malacia move elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see if this latest development pushes United into more immediate action.
