Fenerbahce’s reaction to Erik ten Hag’s Amad decision speaks volumes, they were ‘stunned’

There has been frustration in the Manchester United fanbase over Erik ten Hag’s decision to leave out Amad Diallo against Fenerbahce.

Since the start of this season, Ivorian winger Amad Diallo has been one of the most creative and exciting players to watch in the Manchester United first team under Erik ten Hag.

Last season, Amad had injury problems at Old Trafford but had fleeting moments of promise including scoring a late winner for United during the 4-3 win over Liverpool in the Emirates FA Cup.

After a strong start to this season, however, the former Atalanta forward now once again finds himself on the periphery with Amad only playing for 10 minutes during the UEFA Europa League draw to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce’s reaction to Amad snub says it all

One of Ten Hag’s biggest mistakes during the draw in Turkey was the decision to snub Amad for the last knockings of the game.

The Ivorian only made an appearance for United because Antony had to be taken off with what looked to be a serious injury.

United’s online fanbase were frustrated with the decision to snub Amad and it appears that the Fenerbahce technical area were also in agreement that this was the wrong decision to make.

According to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, some in the Fenerbahce hierarchy were stunned Amad had not come on sooner and they feared the worst when his first touch, from an excellent cross-field pass by Mazaroui, took him beyond Mert Muldur, which resulted in a free-kick.

United fans were furious with Antony’s performance and it appeared that Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake were doing their best to cajole the young winger into a smile before coming onto the pitch for his brief cameo.

Erik ten Hag could risk fan fallout if Amad snub continues

The United fanbase is divided at the best of times but due to the poor start to the season that the club has made, which includes just four wins in all competitions this season, tensions are high.

Old Trafford was a much happier place last weekend after United’s 2-1 victory over Brentford but if results continue to be inconsistent, then questions will be asked.

With Amad being one of United’s more promising players during a campaign that has failed to inspire, fans are becoming more agitated every game that the winger does not feature.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho seem to be in good form at this moment in time but shunning a player like Amad, who offers something different, could well be the nail in the coffin for Ten Hag.
