Manchester United lost 4-3 to Copenhagen on Wednesday night, in what was a game filled with drama.

Manchester United will be so disappointed to have dropped points against Copenhagen on Wednesday night. Starting the game so well, it looked set to be a rampant victory until Marcus Rashford saw red.

An accidental challenge was made as Rashford attempted to protect the ball. This left United with 10 men.

Despite the numerical advantage, United had the chances to win the game, however somehow, Copenhagen managed to turn it around into a 4-3 win in matchday four of the Champions League.

After the game, United fans were furious over one referee error in the game which saw Copenhagen score their first goal.

Despite clear interference in play, Copenhagen’s goal stood, showing the inconsistency in officiating after United had a goal ruled out for similar reasons v Fulham…

Fans react to another terrible VAR decision

After Copenhagen pulled a goal back immediately following Rashford’s dismissal, eagle-eyed United fans pointed out once again poor refereeing.

With a Copenhagen player directly in front of Andre Onana, one fan argued on X: “Right in front of the keeper! Blocking sight !”

This was followed by another fan pointing out that if it was the other way around, the goal probably wouldn’t have stood: “If this was us it would’ve been disallowed without a thought”.

A third said: “It’s against us, so no one cares if bats an eye…”, before continuing to say, “It’s obvious what these referees are doing to United, But Ten Hag will never complain about it”.

A fourth then seemed quite upset on his review of the decision: “Genuinely just don’t even like watching football anymore man, nothing to do with United, just look at the state of VAR every single game…”

Finally a decision goes United’s way

In the second half, United finally were granted a rightful decision, with a penalty being awarded to put Erik ten Hag’s side 3-2 up.

It was 100% the correct decision and went a small way to rectify the poor decisions seen in the first half.

One fan wrote: “Finally, a decision that went Manchester United’s way. Frame it, lads. We’ve made history today.”

Another then wrote that the penalty simply had to be given: “Can’t not give this if you gave it against Maguire.”
