Facundo Pellistri's injury blocks potential Manchester United loan move
Facundo Pellistri‘s ankle injury has reportedly curtailed his chances of leaving Manchester United on loan before the summer transfer window closes.
The 20-year-old suffered a twisted ankle in the pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Norway, at the end of July.
The Uruguayan international had only been on the pitch for 15 minutes against Diego Simeone’s side after being introduced in the 75th minute, but he was replaced by James Garner in the closing stages.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Pellistri is expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks and his injury has dashed his chances of securing a loan move before 1 September.

The former Penarol youngster will undertake his recovery at Carrington and aim to build up match fitness upon his return ahead of the winter World Cup.
The speedy South American has six caps to his name for his national side and he’ll be hoping to nail down a starting place in Diego Alonso’s team ahead of the showpiece in Qatar.
United’s number 28, who scored in our pre-season opener against Liverpool, is yet to make his senior debut for the club, and it’s highly unlikely he’ll feature under Erik ten Hag prior to the World Cup.
Pellistri’s best chance of game time will come via the Premier League 2 with our under-21s. He has three goals and one assist from eight under-21 appearances for the Reds.
Having finished the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Spanish side Alaves, Pellistri returned to the La Liga outfit on a season-long loan last season.
But he only made six starts for the side that were relegated from the Spanish top-flight and played 75 minutes of football across five appearances during the entirety of 2022.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had tipped the youngster to leave the club on loan once again, but injury to La Liga giants Atletico has blocked Pellistri’s chances.
