Facundo Pellistri says he loves hearing that Manchester United fans want to see him get more minutes for the club.

The youngster has been speaking to ESPN while on duty with the Uruguayan national team.

Pellistri, 21, featured for 68 minutes in Uruguay’s recent friendly draw with Japan.

He is feeling positive about his increased usage as a Manchester United player, recently making his first start in an away win over Real Betis.

Pellistri feeling positive

Facundo Pellistri made his 11th appearance for Uruguay during the break and he is catching this up for Manchester United.

When 2023 began he had no competitive game time for United since his move in 2020. He now has eight appearances in total for the Red Devils.

Seven of these have been as a substitute, and he has frequently left United supporters wanting more. Former star Owen Hargreaves even remarked he was a player he wanted to see more of.

Pellistri explains he has been keeping track of the positive comments he has heard on social media.

He said he is pleased he see Manchester United and Uruguay fans saying they want to see him get more minutes for club and country.

He explained: “It makes me happy, it would be worse if nobody wanted to see me play.

“Feeling that support from both the Uruguayans and the people from Manchester wanting me to play, motivates you and makes you keep putting in to have those opportunities that are coming and I’m enjoying them.”

It’s not always wise for footballers to pay attention to social media. Rarely, in fact. And Pellistri may eventually find this out to his cost. But while it is positive, he is happy to embrace the positivity.

The youngster is getting more and more involved as part of Erik ten Hag’s squad, and wants to continue to play a big role this season.

Pellistri added: “It makes me very happy to have more participation in the team. I recently played as a starter, that helps you feel better both in training and on a day-to-day basis.

“Hopefully I can follow this path, continue contributing, and at the end of the season I can win all the possible titles with the club.”
