Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has praised manager Erik ten Hag and the influence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pellistri’s agent has said his client wants to leave United after the World Cup, although it is not clear whether that is on loan or permanently.

But in an interview with ESPN, Pellistri was asked about the manager who is yet to give him a chance this season and spoke positively.

He also praised Ronaldo, who has attracted headlines this season for some off-field behaviour, saying he is a good influence on the squad.

Pellistri on Ronaldo and Ten Hag

He said: “Ten Hag really likes to press up high and for the team to be the protagonist.

“You can see that United are starting to at least win more games and I think that by the end of the year things will go well.

“What most caught my attention about Cristiano Ronaldo? When I saw him I was impressed by him, but yes, he is always one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave.

“Besides, ‘he’s very human’; As much as he is one of the biggest stars that exist in football and in the world, he is always attentive to everything.

“He always greets me and asks me about my injury, as a person he is incredible, as a player we already know what he is.”

Plenty was said when United signed Ronaldo about his potential influence on the younger players in terms of professionalism and attitude.

Pellistri was out on loan last season and did not get the benefit of that, but he has had it this season as he recovers from his injury.

It may not be for much longer, with Pellistri’s agent making it clear his client wants to make a move in January and of course Ronaldo’s future still to be resolved.

Meanwhile, United do have fitness issues in wide areas, which could hand Pellistri an opportunity before the World Cup.
