Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has the chance to add to their most recent opponents’ misery this weekend.

Just days after United hammered Real Sociedad 4-0 in the Europa League, the Red Devils’ loanee is gearing up to face them.

Pellistri moved to Alaves last month but he is yet to feature, sitting unused on the bench thus far. but things could change this weekend.

Sociedad will be smarting from that defeat to United and it may be the ideal time to give Pellistri his first runout.

The Uruguayan could showcase his talent against a team who looked weak whenever his parent club burst forward on Thursday.

United will not be happy to see Pellistri sitting on the bench for a third game running. Yet if he comes on for any action he could easily prove his worth.

There is a reason United paid £9million for the teenager (BBC). During his time at Penarol, Pellistri showcased his talent on a regular basis. He has 37 first-team appearances under his belt, along with two goals and four assists.

Time to impress

The 19-year-old quickly proved to be too good for U23 football. With three goals and an assist in eight second string outings for United, he has taken the next step.

Senior football is no stranger to him. And it is testament to his mindset that the United prospect has already moved on to Spain to prove his worth, having only recently touched down in England.

Sociedad have fallen away after an early charge to the top of La Liga. United’s humbling of them last week means they could come out firing against Pellistri’s loan club.

Then again, coming up against a side whose confidence has taken a big hit could be the opportunity the United teenager is looking for.

With United still having a second leg to come, Pellistri will be hoping to get on and impress in a match Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his staff will be sure to watch.
