Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United impressed with new signing’s ‘fantastic attitude’

It’s fair to say that Sergio Reguilon has made quite an impact since his move to Manchester United from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The Spanish left-back was seemingly not Erik ten Hag’s first choice for the position as that was Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. However, their demands for a £7 million loan fee saw United turn to Sergio Reguilon instead. It could be a blessing in disguise.

Reguilon has certainly made an impact since his move to the club this summer and has proven to be a better option than Cucurella. The Spaniard has now started three games in a row due to Luke Shaw’s continued absence due to injury.

Reguilon started against Burnley and was once again impressive down that left-hand side and seemed to be forming a nice link-up with Marcus Rashford.

Reguilon’s impact

According to Fabrizio Romano, on his YouTube channel, the Spanish defender has made a good impact so far at United and the board are seemingly delighted with him.

“Man Utd’s coaches are very happy with Sergio Reguilon both on and off the pitch,” Romano revealed.

“He has a fantastic attitude, a very good relationship with his new teammates, and understands Ten Hag’s ideas.”

The former Sevilla defender had struggled at Tottenham before his move to Old Trafford and he has seemingly developed a strong relationship with the players in Manchester.

This could be seen following the win over Burnley, with the defender posting congratulatory messages on his Instagram to his teammates following the win.

Should Reguilon stay

The defender was seen as an unpopular signing when it was announced he would be making the move up north but he has now become a popular figure at Old Trafford with the defender’s willingness and determination winning the fans over.

Whether United would make the move for the defender permanent may well be too early to say but the early signs are certainly positive.

According to The Athletic, United do not have a buy option in the defender’s loan so would possibly have to negotiate the defender’s exit from Tottenham, which would not be easy.
