Fabrizio Romano claims Man Utd have ‘not received any formal approach’ for forgotten Erik ten Hag signing

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United’s decision to sell one Erik ten Hag signing will “depend on the proposals” they receive for the player this summer.

Manchester United have been busy in the summer transfer window in a bid to strengthen key areas of Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad for the new season.

Ten Hag has seen the arrivals of Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee from Serie A outfit Bologna and French defender Leny Yoro from Ligue 1 side Lille in July.

The 54-year-old United boss was then reunited with two ex-Ajax players earlier this month, with Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui both arriving at Old Trafford.

United agreed a deal worth nearly £60m to sign Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich this summer.

The Red Devils are still expected to make another signing this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte believed to be a key target.

Romano’s transfer update on Man Utd player

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has spoken about Manchester United’s position over Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer.

Christian Eriksen arrived at Old Trafford in Erik ten Hag’s debut season after he left Brentford and completed a move to the Red Devils on a free transfer in 2022.

The 32-year-old Denmark international impressed in his first season at United and was a largely influential midfield figure under Ten Hag.

However, Eriksen’s second season with United was disrupted by injuries and the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, who has climbed the pecking order ahead of him.

Romano has revealed that United have not “received any formal approach” for Eriksen, but the Red Devils could let him leave if the ‘right’ proposal is offered.

“For Eriksen, it will depend on the proposals. A lot of rumours, a lot of stories, but from what I heard there is still no bid on Manchester United’s table,” he said.

“They have not received any formal approach from any club.

“Let’s see if someone will arrive with a good proposal for Eriksen and if that proposal is quite attractive for the player that could be the case otherwise [that he will leave].

“At the moment, the situation is still quiet from what I’m hearing, so it will depend on proposals. But again, a lot of noise, but still no bids on the table.”

Eriksen on Man Utd future

Christian Eriksen is out of contract with United in 2025 and the Danish midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

The former Ajax and Tottenham ace made 22 appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League last season, with Eriksen managing only 12 league starts.

Eriksen previously admitted that he was “not happy” with the lack of playing time that he had at Old Trafford last season.

“I’ve said in the past that I’m not happy with not playing, but it’s not something I lose sleep over,” he told Danish magazine Tipsbladet in March.

“The team performs and then I have to respect the role you have on the side.

“For me, it’s been working hard and focusing on being fresh for every game, and I am. It’s easier now to accept my role than it was before.”
