Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has given his verdict on Manchester United closing in on a deal to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
Quoted by Calciomercato, Ravanelli believes Andre Onana offers better long term value to Manchester United than David de Gea, despite the fee required to sign him.

Andre Onana tipped for move
Former Middlesbrough striker Fabrizio Ravanelli is expecting the Andre Onana transfer to Manchester United to go through.
He said: “I think the offer will come, De Gea is currently unpresentable for Manchester United. Furthermore, Onana has a great relationship with the current Manchester manager.
“De Gea earns 22 million a year, United should sign Onana, who is stronger and saves on that salary. Beyond the cost of 50 million, it will amortise much better than De Gea”.
United were expected to be offering a reduced salary to David de Gea, but even this, would be more than Onana currently earns at Inter Milan.
So while there is a compelling financial argument to sign Onana, the key one is the improvement he will bring to Manchester United on the pitch.
Onana’s passing ability is one of his strengths, also conversely, one of David de Gea’s biggest weaknesses.
The Cameroon international came through Barcelona’s academy, where being adept with the ball at your feet is crucial even for goalkeepers, and he has taken this with him through his professional career.
Onana left Barcelona for regular football at Ajax, where he played under current Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
