Exploring Manchester United’s win and loss record in 2025/26 with Benjamin Sesko starting and without

Manchester United will be without Benjamin Sesko for an upcoming period.

It is never a good sign when a player suffers a knee injury, and there was immediate alarm at Manchester United when Benjamin Sesko was taken off against Tottenham.

Sesko was spared a serious injury but will still miss time. Sky Sports report that Sesko will be out of action one month at most.

Manchester United and Sesko have got away lightly, with the striker expected to be back before Christmas. It was reported last week that United did not believe the injury was serious.

How Sesko has impacted Man Utd results

Sesko has not been an automatic starter since joining United in the summer, starting six of 11 Premier League games to date.

From the games Sesko has started, there has been no clear pattern. United have won three of the six.

Sesko has scored twice, both in games he started, against Brentford and Sunderland.

United have also won two of the five games Sesko has missed, losing only one.

In 2025/26 to date, United have been OK but inconsistent, currently ranking seventh in the Premier League. The win rate with and without Sesko is reflective of this – but it also shows there is no clear drop off without him.

Ruben Amorim is prepared for Sesko absence

Ruben Amorim has not been reliant on Benjamin Sesko this season, and that makes him better prepared for the Slovenia striker’s injury.

Amorim has started Mason Mount up front and Matheus Cunha, while Joshua Zirkzee has not had a single start yet this season.

All three will be competing for a spot, while Chido Obi could also be promoted to the bench.

Who should start as striker for Man Utd with Benjamin Sesko injured?

United’s next match is a home fixture with Everton, followed by an away match at Crystal Palace. Sesko will almost certainly miss both.

Ruben Amorim is not short of options. He has created these options by already experimenting with a more fluid style by pushing Mount or Cunha up front.

Amorim deserves credit for this, and he is better prepared for Sesko’s injury than had he been totally dependent on him.
