A name that had a strange career at Manchester United had to be Brazilian midfielder, Fred.

Fred became Jose Mourinho‘s second signing of the summer of 2018, following the arrival of defender Diogo Dalot from Porto.

United paid a whopping £52m for his services. He never really did live up to the price tag, but nevertheless had a half-decent career at Old Trafford. His inconsistency was probably his most frustrating quality.

Nevertheless, since departing in the summer, he’s really found his rhythm. He’s now one of the stand-out performers for the ‘best team in Europe’.

Fred superb for Fenerbache

The Brazilian was deemed surplus to requirements by Erik ten Hag in the summer. The 30-year-old was sold for £13m to the Turkish giants – Fenerbache.

Since joining, Fred has featured in 13 of 18 games and provided four goal assists in a brilliant start to life in Turkey.

This has earned him a very respectable 7.63 average rating for the season so far, which makes him one of the stand-out performers for the Super Lig side.

Fenerbache the ‘best team in Europe’

The Turkish club have been deemed the ‘best team in Europe‘ this season after a remarkable start to the 23/24 campaign, winning all 18 of their games.

This includes nine league victories, which puts them top of the division – even ahead of Galatasaray, who recently conquered United at Old Trafford.

The other nine wins come in the Europa Conference League – which saw them breeze through qualifying and now top their group in flawless fashion.

The likes of Edin Dzeko, Dusan Tadic and former Red Devil Joshua King are all Fred’s new teammates. They’ve all gelled ridiculously quickly.

It’s nice to see Fred succeeding away from Manchester. We wish him all the best for the rest of the season.
