Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future remains undetermined, with a short-term fix in place.
Manchester United have a decision to make when it comes to defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The right-back’s contract was due to expire in June 2024, before Manchester United rolled over a one-year extension to June 2025. But that solves little long-term.
There was interest reported from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr this week, which might potentially give United something to think about.

United In Focus spoke to HITC Football transfer expert Graeme Bailey to get the lowdown on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and his future.
He believes Wan-Bissaka will land up with a long-term deal at Manchester United, instead of being sold.
Bailey explained: “Al-Nassr are saying there are intermediaries offering Casemiro and Wan-Bissaka. I’m told from United’s point of view their hope is still to negotiate a long-term deal with Wan-Bissaka, that’s their party line still. I don’t believe they’ve extended Wan-Bissaka’s contract option just to sell him on.
“I think they are looking to give him a new deal on slightly lesser money and that’s where they are with him.
“I don’t see Wan-Bissaka moving on, he’s a very solid performer, United have got a lot of issues, yeah could they improve at right-back I think they could, but with the amount of stuff going on at United I don’t think that’s a priority. Dalot and Wan-Bissaka are not a massive issue for the club, they are both very good Premier League players.
“We are more likely to see Wan-Bissaka get that new deal and commit for another three to four years for United.”
Wan-Bissaka is a dependable option with a unique skillset
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a defender who Manchester United can rely on, who has a unique defensive skillset when it comes to shutting down wingers one on one.
Where the drawbacks with his game come is going forward, and while to some degree this is overblown as a ‘problem’, it is not a key strength either, with no goals and two assists this season.
United were hoping he would have developed into a more well rounded full-back at this point, instead he seems to be very much a similar player to the one he was when the club signed him in 2019.
The club looking to be restrained with a wage offer and potentially sign him to a cheaper deal is interesting, as it shows how the new regime is tightening up, reluctant to give the big increases to players who later become impossible to shift.
If Wan-Bissaka really wants to play for United in the years ahead, then he will have to find an agreement with the club.
