Manchester United forward Joe Hugill is reportedly attracting interest from a number of sides in England with a view to making a loan offer for the youngster in January.

According to Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, Tony Mowbray’s Sunderland are reportedly showing a strong interest in the forward who has remained in the under-21 setup at United this season despite attracting interest from several clubs.

However, Hugill, 19, needs to take the step into the senior game and United are now listening to teams with a plan for him in January.

The young forward scored against Leeds United in the club’s first pre-season game in Oslo and Erik Ten Hag was impressed with what he saw from the forward.

What does the report say

The post from Nixon, on Patreon says that the Black Cats are one of the club’s leading the race to sign the forward and could make the club a loan offer in January.

However, the report also states that Sunderland’s needs for a new striker aren’t as desperate as perhaps other club’s are and these other clubs are keen on Hugill, although it isn’t stated who else could be interested in the forward.

A loan move may well be the ideal scenario for the young forward

Follow in Amad’s steps

The other United player who has recently joined Sunderland on loan and excelled was Amad Diallo.

The Ivorian winger joined the EFL Championship club and was superb throughout as the Black Cats just missed out on a play-off spot and the hope, from United, will be that Hugill could make a similar impact if he were to move to the EFL side.

A deal could be worked on in January and the hope will be that the forward will receive game time at a high standard before returning to United where the club can then decide what to do with the young forward.
