This is not the first time Ethan Williams has participated in a first team training session. And it is not unusual for youngsters to be called up, especially amid an injury crisis.

Williams may be of particular interest given Manchester United’s lack of wide options. The teenager can play on both the left and right wing and is a threat with his feet from set pieces.

He has played and scored for both the under-18 side and under-21s this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in five matches in all competitions.
