Former Manchester United youngster Largie Ramazani revealed a few weeks ago that he plans to ‘become a legend at Almeria’, and more performances like this will certainly do his hopes of a securing place in the pantheon of Rojiblancos greats no harm.

That thrilling La Liga clash with Granada may have ended not in celebration but with a nagging sense of regret – the visitors clawing back a point from 3-0 down and hat-trick hero Luis Suarez (no, not that one) stretchered off with a broken leg – but Largie Ramazani’s dazzling solo display will not be forgotten in a hurry.

In the space of just five minutes at the end of a ferocious first-half – from minute 41 to 46 – the one-time Manchester United starlet produced a hat-trick of assists. More than he managed across the entirety of 2022/23.

The first was a perfectly-weighted pass in behind for the onrushing Suarez. Ramazani’s second, mere moments later, was even better. An ingenious flick over the head of a baffled Granada defender followed by a firm cross. Ramazani’s third assist – just 300 or so seconds after the first – showcased another, less glamorous side of his game.

The former Belgium U21 international snatched back possession with an excellent tackle and immediately lofted a clever pass over a stretched backline.

Ramazani is not be an Almeria ‘legend’ just yet. But he’s certainly on his way to becoming one of La Liga’s most devastating defence-splitters (Mundo Deportivo). The only frustration, for him, will be that Suarez – the recipient of all three of those assists – will be unavailable for the forseeable future.

Ramazani left United for free

Ramazani spent three years at Manchester United between 2017 and 2020, making only one Europa League appearance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before rejecting a new contract and joining Almeria for free.

After a promising debut season in Spain’s top flight last term, a tally of four assists in just four starts already this has the making of a genuine breakthrough year for a player who rose through the ranks alongside James Garner, Hannibal Mejbri and co at Old Trafford.
