Former Manchester United star Tim Howard has revealed that he would be on the receiving end of “horrific talking-tos” from Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes.
Tim Howard played under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford after he left MetroStars, now known as New York Red Bulls, and signed for Manchester United in 2003.
The 44-year-old lifted an FA Cup and a League Cup under Ferguson, with Howard making 77 appearances for the Red Devils before his departure from the club.
Howard linked up with David Moyes after he initially moved to Everton on loan in 2006, with the Toffees making the move permanent in 2007.
The former United States international featured regularly under former Everton boss Moyes and made 414 appearances during his time at Goodison Park.
Moyes would ultimately leave Everton in 2013 and succeeded Ferguson at United, with the Scotsman enduring an ill-fated spell in charge at Old Trafford.
Despite Moyes’ exit from Goodison Park, Howard continued to play on at Everton until 2016 when he left the Premier League club and returned to the States.

Howard talks Ferguson and Moyes
Following his time in England with Manchester United and Everton, Tim Howard saw out the remainder of his playing career in his native homeland.
Howard signed for Colorado Rapids in 2016 and played for the MLS side until 2019, with the former United and Everton man later moving to Memphis 901.
Speaking about his time at Everton and United, Howard admitted that both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes would take him to task at times.
He wrote in his column for The Daily Mail: “During my career, it was usually the other way round: I’ve been on the receiving end of some horrific talking-tos from both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes and whether you think you’re right or wrong, a manager has to be able to have a pop at you and you have to be able to handle it.
“I often had every excuse in the book but they didn’t want to hear any of them.”
Howard’s experience with Moyes
Howard revealed that former United and Everton manager Moyes could be brutal in the way in which he handled players who stepped out of line.
The former United States star recalled one incident where an unnamed player was “pinned up against the wall” by Moyes for refusing to run after a match.
“Nobody at Everton would ever go at David Moyes,” Howard continued.
“Once, a player – who shall remain nameless and who had a lot to say – was adamant he wasn’t going to do the running after a game.
“Moyes got hold of that information and got hold of the player – he had him pinned up against the wall and I can assure you the player did the fitness!”
