Ex-Man Utd player claims club didn’t give enough time to one manager amid Ruben Amorim’s struggle

Manchester United’s history is littered with a load of “what if” scenarios but it’s an exercise fans are determined to stop by backing Ruben Amorim unconditionally this time.

However, Ruben Amorim hasn’t been making it easy, with the team on course to finish it’s worst-ever season in Premier League era, and already out of two competitions.

The Europa League is the next on the agenda and the most important one too since it provides Champions League qualification.

As the season increasingly looks like a write-off, ex-Man Utd player Demetri Mitchell, who was given his debut by Jose Mourinho, has claimed the club failed one manager.

Demetri Mitchell says Man Utd had a winner in one manager

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, Man Utd have cycled through nine managers, permanent and interim, with Amorim being the tenth one.

That list includes manager of every sphere – the chosen one, the serial winner, the headmaster, the tactician, the club favourite, and now the wonderkid.

After watching Ruben Amorim struggle at the helm so far at Old Trafford, Demetri Mitchell went on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said one of those should’ve been given more time.

Mitchell said, “Ole should [have] stayed at the wheel a little longer, man.”

Ole took United to the Champions League via the league and also went to the Europa League final, but by the end of his time, his position did look untenable.

It is an interesting hypothetical if he could have turned it around had he been backed like Ruben Amorim is, but the two managers came to the club in wildly different circumstances.

Ruben Amorim needs support to break the cycle

The noise around a Man Utd manager is always at fever pitch but the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is flying at Besiktas, his first managerial job after leaving United, adds more spice to the situation.

However, there is no point looking back at what could’ve been in the past. All the focus should be on how Amorim can be supported to succeed.

Ineos have already gone all-in on Amorim, their first proper managerial appointment, and the manager’s vision and communication is what this job demands.

It is yet to translate onto the field because the results speak for themselves but going back to the days when the club was called a agent of chaos under the Glazers is not an answer.

Fans will always be grateful for the job Solskjaer did and if anything, his profile should rise considering the mess United have found themselves in since his departure. That doesn’t mean the club should go back.
