Ethan Hamilton has a chance to become one of the stars of Manchester United’s pre-season.

The Manchester Evening News report Hamilton trained with the first team on Monday.

He was joined by Dylan Levitt, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong, James Garner and Mason Greenwood.

All five trained under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of last season. Hamilton was out on loan at Rochdale.

Impressive

Hamilton’s form for Rochdale caught the eye. He settled at the League One side, making an impact after joining in January.

He scored four goals in 14 games from midfield, picking up valuable experience.

Rochdale boss Brian Barry-Murphy told the club website: “Ethan is capable of scoring goals and he has been an incredible team player.”

The Edinburgh born midfielder is 20, so needs to make this pre-seasn count. Unlike Levitt, 18, he may not get another one.

With United yet to make midfield signings, Hamilton could not ask for a better opportunity, in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first pre-season in charge.

He is going to get a chance, and could become one of United’s unlikely stars.

Could a Scottish partnership be brewing in the middle with Scott McTominay?

It’s a long shot, but Hamilton’s form on loan has earned him this opportunity. He deserves this shot to have another chance to show what he can do.
