Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has told the club website his ambition is to win a trophy in his first season at the club.
But first he says there is a huge amount of work to do, simply to get into contention.
The Dutchman was speaking to Manchester United’s official website ahead of the club’s friendly match against Cadiz.
He says his priority is to ensure his team are ‘in the mix’ for silverware by April.

Ten Hag targeting trophy
Ten Hag said he intends to steer the Manchester United into contention.
Even if a Premier League challenge would seem unlikely this season, there are still three cups in play.
United are into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, have another home tie in the FA Cup, and face Barcelona in the Europa League.
Ten Hag explained: “First, we have to get the team in the position where we can win something. That’s our first focus. In December or January, no team wins a trophy.
“We have to get in the right position in April and that is what we have to work for.”
United are fifth in the Premier League and an objective is to finish in the top four and secure a Champions League spot.
Ten Hag is right that there is a long way to go – only 14 of 38 Premier League matches have been played.
United are preparing for the Carabao Cup clash with Burnley by warming up against Cadiz and then Real Betis this week.
The Red Devils host Vincent Kompany’s side on December 21, and will play Everton in the FA Cup third round in early January.
