Manchester United are lacking a lot in regard to fundamentals for their squad this season.
Erik ten Hag‘s first-team squad just don’t seem to have that dynamism a flourishing Manchester United side has – which is evidently reflected in the performances.
Players such as Casemiro, Raphael Varane and Christian Eriksen all look quite off it. There’s a common denominator when it comes to this trio, and a lot of the squad… lack of pace.
This is why it may come as a surprise to find out that Ten Hag actually sold two of the quickest players in the Premier League this season.

Erik ten Hag sold two of the Premier League’s quickest players
According to up-to-date research from the Premier League, former Manchester United wingers Tahith Chong and Anthony Elanga are two of the league’s quickest players.
The research that dropped on the 9th of November 2023 states that in terms of ‘pure speed’ Chong sits 7th, whilst Elanga sits 12th in the Premier League rankings.
- Tahith Chong, Luton Town: 36.37 km/h
- Anthony Elanga, Nottingham Forest: 35.85 km/h
Neither also sit too far off the top, with Luton’s Chiedozie Ogbene in first place with 36.93 km/h.
Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund also features. He sits 17th. But could United sign the player that sits in 6th? He’s certainly been linked.
Could Amadou Onana become a Manchester United player?
Sitting in 6th with a speed of 36.65 km/h this season is Everton’s Amadou Onana.
The Daily Mail claimed back in August that United have been weighing up a move for the Belgium international.
Everton managed to keep hold of his signature, but with United looking to bolster their midfield after it looking rather mediocre this campaign, we’re pretty certain he’ll be a potential man on Ten Hag’s shortlist come the summer.
He’d bring some much-needed pace and intensity, that’s for sure.
