Erik ten Hag has provided a fitness update on Manchester United trio – Jadon Sancho, Antony and Anthony Martial in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa.

The Red Devils welcome Villa to Old Trafford for the third-round clash, which will be the second meeting in the space of five days between the two clubs.

Unai Emery’s Villains beat the Reds 3-1 win at Villa Park on Sunday, but the twenty-time league champions will have an immediate opportunity to exact revenge on the Birmingham-based side.

Ahead of his second managerial meeting against the former Villarreal manager, Ten Hag was asked to provide a fitness update ahead of his first domestic cup clash in English football.

Ten Hag said: “There are players coming back but a question mark. As you have seen, Anthony Martial was back for the last 20 minutes at Villa, so we are happy with that.

“We hope he can continue this tomorrow, he will be in the squad, he will have minutes, definitely, if he’s recovered good.

“Yesterday we had a day off. Today, we have the final training session and we will see. But I think he’s capable to play minutes.

“And the rest, Jadon Sancho: we have to wait, Antony: we have to wait today, final training.”

Antony, who was selected in Brazil’s World Cup squad alongside fellow Reds Alex Telles, Fred and Casemiro, has missed the last three games.

Sancho has missed the last two games due to illness while Martial marked his return to action against Villa on Sunday after suffering a back injury against Everton last month.

United’s number nine hasn’t played more than 45 minutes in a single competitive appearance under the Dutchman as of yet, but he’s in line to make just his second start of the season tomorrow night.
