Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has praised on loan goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Henderson, 25, is spending the season at loan side Nottingham Forest.
He is ineligible to play against Manchester United tonight when the two sides face off in the Premier League, per conditions of the loan deal.
Ahead of the match with Forest, Ten Hag was asked about Henderson and what thinks about the goalkeeper.
Ten Hag praises Henderson
Manchester United boss Ten Hag told the club website he has been impressed by Henderson.
He explained: “It’s very good. His levels are fantastic, we are following really strictly his performances and we are happy with the level he is showing.
“I am sure he is helping Nottingham Forest, and we are also happy that he cannot play in this game!”
Future still unclear for Henderson at United
Henderson pushed for a move away from United in the summer as he was looking to play regular football.
Frustratingly for the goalkeeper, regular football was not enough to earn him a call-up into the England squad for the World Cup.
From the outside, it looks like Henderson’s time at Forest has been up and down, where he has conceded 30 goals in 15 matches.
At United, his only hope is if David de Gea leaves in the summer. This is a possibility, but if this does transpire, it’s more likely the club sign a new goalkeeper rather than promote Henderson to number one.
Ten Hag’s comments at least give Henderson a little hope. A strong 2023 for Forest might change his fortunes.
