Manchester United came through a tough match with Everton to win 2-1, coming from behind.
Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo scored first half goals, while Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford also had goals disallowed.
Ronaldo’s winning goal was assisted by Casemiro, who was able to atone for an earlier error for Everton’s opener.
The Brazil midfielder player 90 minutes, impressing on his first Premier League start since joining the club.
Ten Hag praises Casemiro’s ‘huge impact’
Casemiro was subject of praise from Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after the game.
The boss told the club website he is pleased with the midfielder’s contribution on and off the ball.
Ten Hag said: “He is experienced. Even after a small mistake, he [remained] composed, he is doing the right things.
“He has a huge impact on the game by winning so many balls and always in good positions to receive balls, to link up, to pass around, and he was really important with the goal. A good ball in, a good pass to Cristiano and a good finish.”
Casemiro was presented with the man of the match award after the game.
Ten Hag pleased with team display
Ten Hag went on to add he was pleased with the way United responded to the derby defeat, this week beating an in-form team, with a Europa League win in between.
He said: “There is room for improvement but today I don’t want to complain too much when we win 2-1 at Everton who are in a really good [place after] seven league games. It’s difficult to score here and we did twice, and I am happy and that is a compliment for the squad.”
United now have Cristiano Ronaldo up and running too, with his first goal from open play this season. Another injury to Anthony Martial should lead to further opportunities for the veteran.
