Erik ten Hag simply needs to find out just what’s going wrong with Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford this season.
Manchester United ran out 2-1 winners against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, but Rashford once again was well off the pace.
This was seriously surprising after his international break. He was one of England’s star performers against Italy, which led to many excited to watch him on Saturday night.
He was severely disappointing. Something just isn’t right about him this season.
Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United form needs addressing
Speaking on BBC’s Football Daily podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson had the following to say about Rashford following the Sheffield United fixture.
“For me, Marcus Rashford looked miles off it again tonight,” he began. “At times he looked disinterested with his body language. When he got the ball his first thought was one touch, two touches and then pass back into midfield.
Mark Ogden agreed with Robinson: “Paul’s right about Rashford, there’s something not quite right there.
“This has been prolonged now. He had a great burst after the World Cup last season and scored virtually every game for about 12 or 13 games, but that was a blip.
“The real Marcus Rashford we’ve seen on the other side of that blip. He plays in patches and when he doesn’t play he doesn’t contribute. It’s an issue that Ten Hag has to address.
“You don’t see any drive in Manchester United right now and I think Rashford embodies that. He’s the highest-paid player but he doesn’t do something often enough.
“Marcus Rashford should be carrying Manchester United to victories and right now he’s not doing it.”
Rashford is nowhere near his level
It’s becoming apparent this season that Rashford is massively underperforming.
What’s worrying is it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. He’s playing on, what is his strongest position of left-wing each week and just doesn’t seem to be having a positive impact on games.
So far, he’s played nine games in the league and has scored just one goal. A terrible return, which needs to change.
