Erik ten Hag gave his thoughts on Harry Maguire’s performance against Everton at Old Trafford.
It’s safe to say that it hasn’t really been Harry Maguire‘s year at United. The £80 million pound man has really fallen out of favour in Erik ten Hag‘s side, with a fine partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez pushing him onto the sidelines.
This has led to a scarcity of game time for the England international, however, he did feature in United’s two-goal win against Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The gaffer gave his thoughts on Maguire’s overall performance.

Ten Hag gives thoughts on Harry Maguire
Twn hag gifted Maguire just his 13th club start of the campaign against Everton however the Dutchman was impressed with how Maguire performed.
“It’s not that easy for Harry and if you then deliver the performance he did today, really well done. In and out of possession, dominating and dictating. That is my demand on him and he transferred that to the pitch,” Ten Hag stated.
Maguire has shown great professionalism when called upon, which is exactly what a squad needs from fringe players who don’t necessarily have their name on an ideal team sheet.
He then went on to explain that he was thrilled with the fantastic football that United played in the early Saturday kick-off.
“We conceded two chances in two games (against Everton and Brentford) and we created a lot of chances. And that in the third game in six days, a credit to the team, two really good results, showed great mentality, character, so we’re happy with that.
“We know what we are capable of and you see this team is still improving. Today it was brilliant football. In the first half, we created so many chances. Midfield was playing really well, there was a lot of speed and direct play in front. The only thing is we have to be more clinical and score more goals”
The Everton win makes it two on the bounce for the Red Devils at Old Trafford. Now they’ll be looking to make it three when they face Sevilla in the Europa League at the Theatre of Dreams this Thursday night.
