Erik ten Hag has issued a rallying cry to his team ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Newcastle United.

The Red Devils have lost seven games in all competitions this season and are in desperate need of progression into the next round of the cup which they won last season.

It’s fair to say Erik ten Hag is now under pressure at Manchester United after seven defeats from 14 games, the pressure on the Dutchman is reaching boiling point.

The former Ajax boss has written in the United Matchday programme before the game (relayed by 90min) ahead of the game and has said his players can’t feel sorry for themselves.

Ten Hag’s response

After the manner in which United lost the game against Manchester City at Old Trafford, it’s fair to say the home fans may well be a bit restless tonight.

The Dutchman has encouraged his team ahead of the game and has already said his squad have moved on from the debacle.

“Nobody at this club enjoys defeat, particularly in a Manchester derby like last Sunday, but everything we have achieved together so far has been built on looking forward,” Ten Hag said, “which means we have to move on quickly from what happens, whether it is positive or negative.”

A win against Newcastle United would surely be the boost that the fanbase needs right now.

Ten Hag’s message for the fans

During the final 10 minutes of the Manchester derby, when Pep Guardiola’s side were taking control of the encounter, Old Trafford was rocking.

The fans were behind the club, as they so often have been during the difficult decade at Old Trafford, and it seems Ten Hag has sent a message to those fans.

“I believe that it is only a matter of time before we are showing our true selves. It will come, I am certain. I continue to believe in these players and am confident we will improve after a difficult start to the season.

That belief will be needed when Eddie Howe’s tough-to-beat Newcastle come to town.
