Erik ten Hag is determined to recruit two world-class players providing Manchester United obtain Champions League qualification this season.

Ten Hag has had a fantastic first season as Manchester United‘s manager. The Dutchman has already won silverware in the Carabao Cup and has an FA Cup final to go, against none other than potentially treble-bound Manchester City.

However, something that’s still yet to be wrapped up is Champions League qualification. The Red Devils did edge closer with a win against Wolves, however, it’s still not a certainty with two games to go.

Additionally, European football is vital for United in the transfer market. World-class names will be hard to come by without it.

Erik ten Hag wants a world-class striker and midfielder

The Dutch coach is determined to recruit a world-class striker and midfielder if Manchester United secure Champions League qualification (Via Manchester Evening News).

The Dutchman appears to have two candidates for his striker slot. This is Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

Kane looks like the preferred choice. The England captain has proven numerously in the Premier League he’s one of the best in the business.

Osimhen, despite guiding Napoli to the Scudetto this season, is ultimately a risk without English football experience. A mightily expensive risk at that.

As for midfielders, the two ‘world-class’ names that stood out for the Dutchman was Jude Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong.

Bellingham looks set to be Real Madrid bound as reported by Fabrizio Romano. So, this leaves de Jong as the other potential candidate.

United tried unbelievably hard to acquire the Barcelona midfielder’s signature last year. Despite his great relationship with ten Hag, it appeared the 26-year-old was desperate for Champions League football, so opted to stay with the Catalan side. We all know how that turned out.

Now with (hopefully) Tuesday and Wednesday nights returning to Old Trafford, it may be enough to lure the gaffer’s ideal choice to Manchester.
