Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken to top transfer target Adrien Rabiot, says French journalist Julien Laurens.

Laurens, who works for L’Equipe and ESPN, say the manager and player had a ‘good conversation’ over a potential move.

The Guardian report Manchester United have agreed a £15 million deal with Juventus for the midfielder, although Laurens pushed back on this and said there is not yet an agreement in place.

He added that Adrien Rabiot is keen on swapping Juventus for Manchester United, even though he won’t be playing Champions League football.

Ten Hag ‘has spoken to’ Rabiot

Laurens says Erik ten Hag has spoken to Adrien Rabiot and that the deal is progressing well. He pointed to the manager’s call with the player being in itself, a positive sign.

Rabiot is a player who has worked with big name managers, including Massimiliano Allegri, Andrea Pirlo, Didier Deschamps, Carlo Ancelotti and Unai Emery.

Pirlo branded Rabiot ‘a complete player’, and his vast experience can be a help to Manchester United’s frankly poor midfield.

What remains to be seen is whether Rabiot is the only midfielder set to arrive, or if there will be more. Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have also been linked.

United are also chasing a forward, and the pressure is on recruit new signings after an underwhelming window so far and a home defeat to start the season.
