Erik ten Hag has explained the second-half decision to substitute Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund when Manchester United were chasing a goal.
Rasmus Hojlund has still yet to score in the Premier League but has three goals to his name in the Champions League.
The Dane had a chance to net for Manchester United after Marcus Rashford’s shot was diverted into his path but his shot was tipped around the post by Wes Foderingham.
It was a frustrating evening for the 20-year-old and his night was summed up when he was surprisingly taken off by Erik ten Hag and replaced by Anthony Martial.

Ten Hag explains Hojlund decision
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News after the game, the Dutchman certainly received some frustrated moans and groans from the away end but the former Ajax boss has explained this decision.
“You see he plays often whole games but behind us we have to manage his game minutes,” Ten Hag said.
“Coming up are many games. So we are now in October but until the end of the season there are so many games and we need everyone on board, we need everyone sharp and to keep them sharp.
“Also, we wanted to do something with subs to bring new energy into the team and from a tactical approach we want to do something.”
The Danish forward suffered a knee to the back during Denmark’s 2-1 win over San Marino so managing his minutes is crucial.
Hojlund’s fitness
Before the striker made his debut for the Red Devils, a report from the Daily Mail detailed how the 20-year-old could only feature once a week due to his back problems.
This has seemingly proven to be wrong but you do wonder if there is a semblance of truth to the report and the young forward struggles to consistently play two games a week at full throttle.
United will need Hojlund to feature in two games this week as these games against Copenhagen & Manchester City will be the biggest games of the season so far.
