Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that one key player will be available for the trip to Wolves but another star is a bit further away.
Thursday night’s game at Molineux against Wolverhampton Wanderers is another massive encounter for Erik ten Hag with Manchester United sitting in ninth place in the Premier League.
One bone of contention this season, there has been many, has been Ten Hag’s use of the two goalkeepers he brought into the club during the summer with Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana being the two signings brought in to replace David De Gea and Dean Henderson.
However, the Dutchman has received criticism for the handling of the goalkeeper situation.
Onana back for Ten Hag
Well, it seems Bayindir’s time in goal for the Red Devils will last just one game as Onana is now back and available for the Red Devils.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game against Gary O’Neil’s side, as per the Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag said: “Mason Mount (return) is too soon but Andre Onana will return.”
For Mason Mount, it has been an injury-laden campaign so far since he decided to move from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford and he is still yet to return from a layoff that has kept him out for a few weeks.
As for Onana, the Cameroon international goalkeeper created a rather bizarre situation in December when he was undecided about joining up with his national team for the Africa Cup Of Nations.
Meanwhile, Bayindir who was brought into the club as the backup was not getting a sniff and this is despite reportedly performing well in training.
Mount’s frustration
You wonder when fans of the Red Devils will begin to get more and more frustrated with the English midfielder’s absences as he continues to suffer injury layoffs.
He has only featured in eight Premier League games so far this season and has failed to score or assist for the Red Devils in these games and has struggled hugely.
With Kobbie Mainoo excelling for the Red Devils in midfield, and Casemiro’s return from his own injury lay-off, this means that Mount may well struggle to find a route back into the starting lineup.
With a summer rebuild on the cards, he may be running out of time to prove himself.
