Erik ten Hag has confirmed Anthony Martial is back in training and could face Liverpool on Monday.
Martial missed the first two games of the season with an injury suffered in pre-season against Atletico Madrid.
Ten Hag told the club website that Martial is back with the squad.
However, he explained Victor Lindelof is still out with injury and is unlikely to be involved.
Anthony Martial is back in training
Ten Hag told the club website: “Victor has not returned to the training pitch but the good news is that Anthony Martial is back in training with the team.”
The Athletic reported on Monday that Martial had returned to training – but he was not pictured with the group when United released pictures of Wednesday’s training session.
Martial scored three goals in pre-season including a strike against Liverpool in the 4-0 win in Bangkok, in which he won back possession before chipping the goalkeeper.
Getting him back ahead of the tie is crucial, and could give Ten Hag a selection dilemma with Cristiano Ronaldo also available.
Ten Hag declined to talk about transfers in his press conference, unlike Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who revealed Casemiro wants to leave, amid ongoing speculation linking the Brazilian with a Red Devils move.
A deal won’t be completed in time for Casemiro to feature against Liverpool, although it is possible he could be in attendance at Old Trafford and even unveiled before kick off, if a deal progresses well between now and Monday night.
