Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has attempted to explain the reasons behind the injury suffered by midfielder Mason Mount.
In his press conference ahead of the crucial clash against Sean Dyche’s Everton at Goodison Park, Erik ten Hag has given more detail about the injury picked up by the former Chelsea midfielder.
It has certainly been a tough time for Mason Mount who completed his £55 million move to Manchester United in the summer, and the Englishman looks set for another spell out on the injury table.
Goodison Park seemed like the perfect opportunity for the Englishman to make his mark for United but the 24-year-old will have to wait even longer for his chance.

Mount injury update
In the second half of the press conference, which was embargoed until 10:30 pm on Saturday night, the Dutchman spoke about the injury suffered by the midfielder.
“There are reasons when you pick up injuries,” Ten Hag admitted. “The back four is not working, we have to make a lot of subs in the back four that have an effect on the balance of the midfield.
“The front players we have to make a lot of changes, so then the routines are not there. Still, I think he has had his moments where he did very well. But I think that stopped in the moment he got injured.
“He [Mount] is a top professional. He is working very hard in training.”
United’s injury problems
The Red Devils have suffered an extraordinary number of injuries with a report from The Guardian stating that some players feel the Dutchman continues to overwork his squad in training.
Mount was supposed to be the midfielder who would take the engine room up a level but, as of yet, the Englishman has failed to show any signs of doing so.
If Mount’s struggles continue, then questions surely need to be asked about the decision-makers at Old Trafford, once again.
Ten Hag has a decision to make around his midfield today, surely today’s clash in Merseyside will be a chance for Kobbie Mainoo to stake his claim in the Dutchman’s starting squad.
