Anthony Elanga is in the running to win Manchester United’s Player of the Month award for February after two crucial goals.
He netted away from home against Leeds United and Atletico Madrid to help earn big results across two different competitions.
That Atletico tie was the biggest game of Elanga’s career and his United career looks to be going from strength to strength.
He also had to recover from disappointment in February, when he missed the decisive penalty as United were knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of Middlesbrough.

Manchester United Champions League winner Wes Brown has told club media that he thinks Elanga deserves to win the monthly prize.
“Anthony Elanga has been absolutely brilliant,” he said.
“It’s just the energy he brings – he starts it from the front, he tries to run in behind, he’s a player we need at the moment.
“He puts pressure on defenders and he has scored some good goals for us as well. As a young player, you want him to do all the best because you know how hard it can be, and he has definitely been a spark for us. He is somebody that we need at the moment.”

We wrote earlier this week that Jadon Sancho deserves the award after a month where he grabbed two goals and notched up two assists as well.
But if Elanga, 19, were to win the vote, there could be very few complaints and it is good that United have two attacking players who have played so well that they are in genuine competition.
The last three monthly awards have won by David de Gea, which was an indication of how much United were pressing him into action as well as the standard of the performances elsewhere on the pitch.
Raphael Varane is also in the frame, and the Frenchman is looking imperious having fully recovered from injury and illness and that was especially true in the aforementioned game against Middlesbrough, which was arguably his best match for the club.
