After a promising start to his career at Old Trafford, Edinson Cavani‘s second season at Manchester United fizzled out with a whimper.
The Uruguayan was released in the summer and there was no appetite from player or supporters to renew his deal for a further year.
After plenty of speculation in the summer over his next move, Cavani eventually signed for Valencia, although did not make his debut for his new side until September.

At the weekend Cavani, 35, scored his first goals for his new club as Valencia drew 2-2 with Elche.
He scored two goals at the end of the first half, before being substituted at the interval as a precaution amid worries over an injury.
This in itself typified his career of late, from his last season at PSG to his two years at Manchester United, with flashes of quality interrupted by fitness problems.
Cavani is especially cautious right now as he prepares for his final World Cup appearance with Uruguay later this year.
The 35-year-old can now boast a very creditable two goals and one assist in four appearances for Valencia thanks to his display at the weekend.
He scored 17 goals in his first season at United, but only two last season. These both came in 2021, making this brace at the weekend his only club goals in 2022.
It is nice to see Cavani scoring again, it is just a shame his spell at United ended on such a low note.
