Dylan Levitt stars for Wales in international clash with Poland
Dylan Levitt’s impressive loan spell for Dundee United saw 2021/22 as a big leap forward in his development.
He was able to showcase this as a starter in Wales’ international friendly match against Poland yesterday.
Levitt stars for Wales
Levitt was a starter for Wales in the match as the team warmed up for their World Cup play-off match.
The Manchester United loanee impressed and was the highest rated player on the pitch, via FotMob player ratings, with 8.0.
Wales took a second half lead before two late goals saw Poland come from behind to clinch a 2-1 win, although they were able to prevent Robert Lewandowski from scoring over 90 minutes.
Levitt had 71 touches, and won five of seven tackles he contested, also making 10 ball recoveries.
He won seven of seven ground duels contested, while creating two goalscoring chances for his team.
The 21-year-old is showing why he is a coveted player, with his contract winding down. There is currently uncertainty whether Manchester United will offer him a new deal.
Levitt could be a useful player under Erik ten Hag, or be sent out on another loan perhaps to a Premier League club to further his development. He was recently voted fans player of the year at Dundee United.
Speaking to the Courier last month, Levitt said: “With the new manager [ten Hag] going in at United, hopefully I’ll get a chance.
“My contract is up in the summer and it hasn’t been spoken about. Hopefully, I will hear something in the next few weeks.
“I still keep in touch with boys at United frequently and they are excited about the new manager. When you hear a new manager is coming in, it gives a buzz about the place.
“I’d love to be able to go back and make an impact; it’s everyone’s dream to do that.”
Sunday’s World Cup play-off against Ukraine is his first priority, and Levitt will hope he has done enough to earn a starting spot in such an important game. If he is selected, it will further underline his impressive progress.
