Dwight Yorke was keen to praise Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana after a solid performance for the Red Devils during win over West Ham United.
An Alejandro Garnacho double and a fine goal from Rasmus Hojlund won Manchester United the game 3-0 in the end with West Ham United having very little by way of a response.
However, the game could have been very different with the Hammers having a few chances in the first half which could have made the outcome of the match very different.
Andre Onana was more than equal to these chances and he made two or three top saves for United and kept the club’s seventh clean sheet of the season.

Yorke on Onana
The Cameroon international goalkeeper has been on the receiving end of some harsh criticism for his mistakes this campaign with the club’s group stage exit of the Champions League largely put down to Onana.
However, Dwight Yorke has leapt to the defence of the 27-year-old and believes he made some brilliant saves against West Ham in the win at Old Trafford.
“He has been criticised at times, but you expect your goalkeeper to make important saves in the crucial time of the game as well,” Yorke told Premier League Productions.
“I think this is a great reflex save (referring to the 15th-minute save made by Onana from a West Ham corner).
“He is showing a good and strong left hand. He will be really pleased with that because Man United tend to concede quite a lot of goals from set-pieces and this was a possible one, but the goalkeeper did fantastically well”.
Onana’s performances
There has been no question that the 27-year-old has looked shaky in a United shirt since his summer move to the club from Inter Milan as a replacement for the outgoing David De Gea.
His mistakes in the Champions League, in particular, have tarnished the reputation he had and have made fans forget the important saves he has made this campaign, including the penalty stop against FC Copenhagen.
The ‘will he, won’t he’ saga that played out with Onana’s decision to go to the Africa Cup Of Nations certainly didn’t help but the hope will be these performances can help give him the confidence to thrive in Manchester.
