Dundee United have been boosted by the news that Dylan Levitt’s hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.
The Manchester United loanee had to be replaced in Saturday’s 1-1 with Aberdeen, which was played in front of an attending Sir Alex Ferguson, after picking up a knock.
The Tangerines were fearful the muscle injury Levitt had sustained could leave the Welsh international on the sidelines for a long period of time.
Although the 21-year-old is expected to miss tonight’s Scottish Premiership clash against Livingston, he might not be too far away from a return come the weekend’s clash against Hearts.
Speaking to the Scottish Daily Express on Levitt’s injury, the Tannadice side’s manager Tam Courts said: “Dylan’s injury isn’t as bad as we thought it might be, so that’s positive news and great to hear.
“It’s difficult to confirm whether he’ll be ready for Wednesday but even hearing those words was a big boost.
“When someone goes off with a hamstring injury like that you automatically fear the worst. But he’s okay, he’s desperate to get back to play as many games as he can.
“We will protect him as much as possible but he’ll be back for the run-in towards the top six for sure.
“This is the point of the season where you want all your big players available, Dylan is one of those for us so it’s very positive news.”
The Tangerines will be hoping to get the Manchester United academy graduate back in the starting line-up given their form with and without the ball-playing midfielder this season.
Since Levitt joined on a season-long loan, Dundee United have only lost four of the 17 Scottish Premiership matches in which their number 19 has featured, compared to six of the nine played without him.
