Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has shown his support for Sofyan Amrabat after his Old Trafford debut.

United were in EFL Cup action on Tuesday night, hosting Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the third round of the competition.

Erik ten Hag was able to give a first start to new signing Sofyan Amrabat and he played a key role in a comfortable United win.

Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro were on the scoresheet in the first half before Anthony Martial added another after the break.

United coasted to a 3-0 win and head into round four with a second victory in just a few days having beaten Burnley on Saturday.

Sofyan Amrabat impressed in first Manchester United start

We saw Amrabat make his first start for United following his deadline-day loan move from Fiorentina.

The Moroccan has been working on his fitness of late and came off the bench to help United see out the win at Burnley.

The Palace clash gave Amrabat the ideal chance to start, but few predicted him to start as a left back.

Amrabat moved into midfield from his left back spot, turning in a strong performance on his Old Trafford debut.

Amrabat boasted 96.3% pass accuracy alongside two tackles, 92 touches and one shot.

It looks like Amrabat can make an impact as a midfielder or as a makeshift left back, giving Ten Hag some versatility.

Donny van de Beek sends message to Amrabat

Amrabat took to Instagram to celebrate his debut, thanking United fans for their support as he made his Old Trafford bow.

There was a reply from fellow United midfielder Donny van de Beek, who came on as a substitute against Palace.

Van de Beek replied with ‘sterkkk’, which translates to ‘strong’ or ‘powerful’ from Dutch into English.

Van de Beek seemingly liked what he saw and will be just like United fans in hoping to see him thrive moving forward.

Amrabat and Van de Beek used to be opponents in Dutch football but they are now teaming up, with the former Ajax man offering valuable support to United’s new man.
