Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been pictured training at Carrington having missed the winter friendly against Real Betis.

The 25-year-old was selected in Erik ten Hag’s starting line-up to face Manuel Pellegrini’s La Liga side on Saturday.

But prior to kick off, United’s number 34 was replaced in the XI by academy midfielder Isak Hansen-Aaroen.

No explanation was provided by the club for van de Beek being pulled out of the team.

But the Netherlands international has clearly shrugged off whatever reason that caused him to miss the 1-0 defeat to Betis judging by the training images released by the club.

Training in freezing conditions at Carrington, the former Ajax midfielder is pictured training alongside the likes of Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri who has returned after featuring in his first World Cup with Uruguay.

Van de Beek will be hoping to make his fourth start of the season come Wednesday night.

The Dutchman has started three of United’s last four games, but his performances flattered to deceive.

But following Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes’ involvement in Qatar, van de Beek will be hoping for another chance to impress and prove his worth to his former Ajax boss.

The former Penarol winger, who moved to United in 2020, will be hoping to make his eagerly awaited debut for the red Devils in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round clash against Burnley at Old Trafford.

Academy players Rhys Bennett, Zidane Iqbal and Kobbie Mainoo were all pictured training with the first team.

Axel Tuanzebe was continuing his recovery from injury and he trained individually with a physio.
