Donny van de Beek to Real Sociedad is off
Manchester United had attempted to strike a deal with Spanish club Real Sociedad. However, this week club president Jokin Aperribay indicated a deal was off, via El Desmarque.
Sociedad clinched a move for Arsen Zakharyan from Dinamo Moscow for £10 million, and Aperribay stated: “I don’t think we will sign more midfielders (after Zakharyan). We have youngsters in whom we trust a lot and we have a commitment (in them) at home. Real is not thinking of signing two midfielders.”
Van de Beek will have to find another exit route. The Mirror report former club Ajax are interested – but only in a loan deal.

United may have to accept a loan exit for Van de Beek, which may work out if it causes his transfer value to rise, and creates a better market for him in 2024.
No role for Van de Beek at United
Donny van de Beek has been a major disappointment since his 2020 move to Manchester United.
For varying reasons from simply not being selected, to injuries, Van de Beek has only started six Premier League games for the club.
Even with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag in charge, his fortunes have not changed for the better.
Mason Mount’s arrival has moved to really end Van de Beek’s chances of a United career revival. He needs game time, and can’t waste another season on the sidelines.
United need to sell or loan him, and bring in a more defensive minded midfielder, an area where the squad is lacking. In terms of cover in attack, United can simply promote Hannibal in Van de Beek’s place.
