Djed Spence's Manchester United support shown on Twitter with Marcus Rashford message
One of the mistakes Manchester United have made in the transfer market through the years is targeting big names wanting a paycheck, who have no love for the club. Angel di Maria springs to mind.
This summer United plan to reset, and targeting young, hungry players who want to play for the club should be among the objectives.
It is why Djed Spence is an intriguing option, a right-back reportedly scouted by Bayern Munich, report The Mirror.

Spence is at Nottingham Forest on loan from Middlesbrough, and is having a storming season, racking up awards for his loan side, with three in the last month alone.
The 21-year-old was also this week named in the EFL Team of the Year, and he looks set to help loan side Forest secure a play-off place.
Spence’s United support
Spence’s admiration for Manchester United is not hard to find on his social media pages. The claims the right-back is a Red Devils fan certainly check out.
This message below posted right after Manchester United’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 speaks for itself.
Spence, who began his career at Fulham, has been backing Marcus Rashford for years, posting a message of support in his breakout season in 2016. He soon could get the chance to play alongside him.
Even more exciting for Spence would be the opportunity to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo, a player he said he ‘loves’.
Spence reacted with delight after Ronaldo struck a match-winning hat-trick for Juventus over Atletico Madrid in 2019, a feat he claims he predicted.
United aren’t simply in the business of making players’ dreams come true, fandom alone won’t get you signed by the club. Fortunately Spence seems to have plenty of talent too, and is an interesting option to consider this club, with full-backs clearly a weak spot.
Sky Germany report Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City are also among the interested clubs, but it’s quite clear United have an edge in a straight fight for his signature.
