Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag recalled Hannibal Mejbri for last night’s Champions League game with Galatasaray.
Ten Hag looked to add Hannibal‘s energy to Manchester United’s midfield, while still retaining Bruno Fernandes’ creativity.
Hannibal played 45 minutes for Manchester United against Galatasaray, having 30 touches, winning five duels, before being replaced by Christian Eriksen at half-time.

Hannibal better suited than Fernandes, says Dublin
Speaking to MUTV prior to kick-off, former Manchester United striker Dion Dublin said he actually prefers Hannibal Mejbri in midfield to Bruno Fernandes.
He says he believes Hannibal’s energy in central areas is essential, and it allows Fernandes, out wide, to be freed up to make an impact in the final third.
Dublin said: “I’d rather have Hannibal in there. More legs than Bruno, it frees Bruno up into the areas to play people in. Hannibal in the middle suits us better.
On Fernandes playing on the right wing, he added: “I think it works. It allows Bruno to do what he wants and be the creative one. Let Hannibal do what he needs to do.”
Wes Brown added: “With Bruno out there he’s more than capable of being the provider, getting his shots off, seeing the passes.”
Dublin added, reflecting on Hannibal’s performance: “I think Hannibal’s been brilliant, I’ve got to say.”
Fernandes on right wing does not seem like permanent solution
Bruno Fernandes can play on the right wing, we have seen him do it for Manchester United before, and for Portugal.
And in certain matches, it might be the best tactical approach. But it does not seem like a permanent solution. And it wasn’t a particularly effective one last night.
United have an expensive winger, Antony, plus two bright prospects in Facundo Pellistri and Amad. Another winger could even be signed as a replacement for Jadon Sancho.
It’s good to have options though, and Hannibal’s emergence as a first team player has really added to the mix in a good way.
